We’re looking for the next generation of Canvanauts!

Our Canva internship is a 12-week remote friendly program that runs from the first week of December to the last week of February. There will also be an opportunity to meet your team in person at our flagship campus in Sydney to experience all the magic of Canva in real life. So your summer time is sorted.

As an Intern, you'll have the opportunity to work on real-life projects from start to finish. Along with this, we'll pair you with a Host and assign you a Buddy who will ensure your success every step of the intern journey. Think of them as your own personal intern tour guides.

Where and how you can work

Our flagship campus is in Sydney, Australia. We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. If you call New Zealand home, we have our Auckland co-working space too.

But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

• Applying a blend of design skills and software development skills to explore, prototype, and build experiences that define the future of how people interact with content in Canva.
• Working creatively through and around perceived limitations and/or challenges to create delightful customer experiences.
• Working with product designers and researchers to explore and implement user experiences.
• Working with engineers to build out testing capabilities and ensure work can be translated into production.

You're probably a match if

• You are currently enrolled and completing your studies between 2025 and mid-2026.
• You are based in Australia or New Zealand and have working rights. Please note, Canva will not be able to sponsor visas and relocate for Early Talent roles.
• You are ready to present a portfolio of personal projects and case studies from inside or outside the classroom demonstrating interaction design work built-in front-end technologies
• You have a deep passion for code and creativity.
• You are proficient with front-end technologies for prototyping (HTML, CSS, JS + React)
• You are keen to collaborate with designers, engineers, and non-technical stakeholders
• You have an aptitude and a desire to pick up new technologies, playing around with them, and finding unique ways to use them.
• You have the ability to receive constructive feedback on work.
• You are able to commit to the 12-week, full-time summer program from early December 2024 to late February 2025.

About the team

You'll be part of the Digital Marketing Group, working closely with a few teams including Digital Activations and Foundations team

Digital Marketing Group

The Digital Marketing mission is to “Our mission is...To connect Canva to every user with engaging and effective digital experiences”. Digital Marketing designs and builds digital experiences to support goals and strategies across Marketing. Our work ranges from web development to physical-interactive Marketing campaigns to connect Canva to users globally. Our goal is to ensure technical solutions for Marketing are effective, optimised for user experience, and drive discovery of our brand and product to generate signups for MAUs and revenue.

Digital Activation Team

The Digital Activation team is responsible for developing digital experiences that engage with customers and enhance brand awareness. Their primary focus is to create digital solutions for campaigns, events, and initiatives to reach and interact with customers. They work closely with the Creative and Brand teams to ensure that the digital experiences they create are high performing and aligned with the brand's overall objectives, creativity, and messaging. The Digital Activation team plays a crucial role in driving customer engagement and helping Canva build a stronger digital presence with new and existing customers globally to become the most loved brand in the world.

Foundations team

The Foundations team is responsible for improving the velocity of engineering & design delivery within Digital Marketing. Owning initiatives to improve engineering and design's ways of working and allow Marketing specialities to quickly turn ideas into beautiful landing pages.
