The full-time position of Graduate Plant Engineer is based at our manufacturing facility situated at Josephville, located approximately 90 km south of Brisbane. 

About the Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, duties will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Supporting the development and implementation of best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve and sustain production rates, yield, and output quality as well as environmental sustainability across all plant processes, including wastewater and the site environment.
  • Supporting the Production Manager with Production planning, scheduling, and process adjustments.
  • Contributing to problem solving of operational anomalies and reporting on technical investigations.
  • Routinely auditing process parameters, equipment operation, and operational procedures against Standard Operating Procedures and industry best practice (both intracompany and external), including conducting analysis of the cause and effects of deviations.
  • Supporting the local Continuous Improvement Coordinator and wider Continuous Improvement network under a Lean Six Sigma philosophy.
  • Assisting in process, wastewater treatment, and / or environmental areas of the site as requested by the Production Manager.
  • Preparation of plant operational reports and analysis as required.
  • Participating as a member of the company Global Process Development Network, and other global teams, where required.

About You

The successful applicant will be able to cope with a varied workload, be a good team player with a proactive attitude, be responsible and reliable, and be able to prioritise and take ownership of all tasks given. The candidate must be professional and courteous as well as adopt a flexible approach to their work.

While this position does not require any previous work experience, our ideal candidate will possess tertiary qualifications in Chemical or Process Engineering (or a cognate discipline). Specific knowledge, skills, or attributes in the following areas would be highly regarded in the selection process: 

  • Technical knowledge / background that would support an understanding of food and / or industrial chemistry.
  • Knowledge of Wastewater Treatment processes.
  • Working knowledge of process engineering software packages, and proficiency in MS Office Suite products (MS Projects, Power BI experience highly desirable).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders, from blue-collar plant operators and maintenance technicians to global heads of department (including the ability to adapt communication style).
  • Ability to impart knowledge and train colleagues across the organisation in technical and quality concepts.
  • Ability to design, carry out, report on, and interpret results of data-driven experimentation to a high professional standard.
  • Continuous improvement philosophy – not accepting the status quo, thinking “outside-the-box” and constantly pondering “what’s next?”.
