Outside of the technical development you’ll gain working within your team, you’ll also join GHD’s Graduate Development Program. The Graduate Program will connect you graduates across Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.  It has been designed for future portability, so that no matter where your graduate position in GHD takes you, your learning experience will be impactful and consistent.

During the two-year program, you’ll learn about our business and our values, your team and most importantly, yourself. You’ll develop your decision-making, communication, technical and leadership skills and mentoring. 

We offer optional rotations in the second year of your program to help explore your career pathways, a structured approach to promotions and salary reviews over your first two years and a culture that is friendly, inclusive and not built on hierarchy.

Who are we looking for?

We’re currently seeking final year students studying Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Data Science and similar quantitative degrees to join our Graduate program for 2024!

The Analytics and Strategic Insights team within GHD Advisory is a small but diverse high calibre team that works at the intersection of data science, advanced analytics, engineering and management consulting. Our clients come from a broad range of industries: energy, logistics, infrastructure, health, and government.  We collaborate with engineering specialists from a range of domains to develop novel and impactful solutions to some of the worlds most important problems.  

Through our project work, graduates in our Analytics & Strategy team are able to:

• Develop and implement a wide range of advanced analytics tools to solve problems
• Build dynamic simulation models to support client decision making 
• Analyse client data and model outputs – in languages such as Python and R
• Present findings to clients, including interactive and highly visual reports
• Use a range of other modelling & analysis techniques: optimisation, machine learning, financial modelling, dashboard & visualisation design.

We’re looking for students who have:

• A degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Physics or other quantitative fields with a strong GPA 
• General programming skills (Python/Matlab/R or other relevant programming languages) 
• Experience with object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, C++)
• Exposure to data transformation analysis and cleansing
• Mathematical modelling: statistical models, optimisation, machine learning, simulation 
• A natural curiosity and a passion for continuous, self-driven learning 
• Strong communication skills and ability to work autonomously on complex problems.

The team is looking for students keen to work with a range of tools and techniques to solve problems. Our largest body of work is in dynamic simulation - using object-oriented discrete event models to capture the complex dynamics of the client’s operation. We also work with clients on optimisation, AI and visualisation problems. 

Working with a blend of remote and office-based work, you could be based out of our Brisbane, Sydney or Perth offices, where you’ll find yourself connected in with a strong cohort of graduates and other early career professionals – you’re sure to find your tribe once you start.
