Graduate Sustainability Consultant - Tasmania

AI Job Summary

At GHD, we don’t just believe in the power of commitment, we live and breathe it every day.

That’s why we pledge to empower all our people to make a positive impact. Together with our clients and partners, we're applying inspiration and a powerful spirit of connection to respond to some of the most complex challenges facing our world.

If you want to start a career with impact, from solving everyday problems through to tackling some of the great challenges our clients and communities face, you’ll find that here at GHD.

You might think that sounds like marketing spin, but that’s the lived experience of our graduates, who participate in opportunities across the business, whether in different teams, different locations or different career pathways.  We’re a business built on finding your path in a supportive, collaborative environment.

We know community impact is important to our staff.  Our GHD in the Community program partners with not-for-profit organisations to provide opportunities to work on pro-bono projects, volunteering and fundraising for philanthropic and humanitarian causes.  As a business we also funnel some of our profits into the GHD Foundation, a registered charity that works to address disadvantage and inequality in children accessing STEAM education in our countries of operation.

What’s in it for you?

Outside of the technical development you’ll gain working within your team, you’ll also join GHD’s Graduate Development Program. The Graduate Program will connect you graduates across Australia, New Zealand, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.  It has been designed for future portability, so that no matter where your graduate position in GHD takes you, your learning experience will be impactful and consistent.

During the two-year program, you’ll learn about our business and our values, your team and most importantly, yourself. You’ll develop your decision-making, communication, technical and leadership skills and mentoring.

We offer optional rotations in the second year of your program to help explore your career pathways, a structured approach to promotions and salary reviews over your first two years and a culture that is friendly, inclusive and not built on hierarchy.

What will you do in the role?

  • Our team collaborates with clients and key stakeholders to identify opportunities to support energy transition, circular economy, carbon accounting, decarbonisation, ESG and climate change initiatives
  • Working on projects across client markets from Heavy Industry & Mining, the Built Environment and Civil Infrastructure
  • Our graduates will work within a growing team and will be able to connect in with like minded peers across the country

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for Engineers & Scientists with a real passion for Sustainability beyond design, someone who’ll embrace the more holistic processes GHD are fostering.

Whether you are a recent graduate or someone completing their final year of studies, this position will be based out of our Hobart office in Tasmania.  Ideally, this opportunity will be suited to someone who has

  • A degree qualification in Sustainability or related Engineering and Science disciplines
  • A passion for developing innovative, sustainable solutions and helping clients embrace a circular economy
  • Any experience with student societies or clubs who also advocate for Sustainable change, or practical work experience will be highly regarded.

We welcome applications from students currently interstate and will be able to provide relocation support for the successful applicant if required.

What happens after you apply?

Once we receive your application, it will be reviewed by one of our Talent Acquisition team members who manage each of our regions. If your application is shortlisted, we will get in touch with you for a Video Interview, where you’ll get the chance to introduce yourself and make another positive impression on both our TA team and hiring managers.

How do you apply?

2. Please allow up to 10 minutes to complete the questions.
