QBE GRADUATE PROGRAM 2024 – NZ ONLY - INSURANCE UNDERWRITING

AUCKLAND | HYBRID WORKING

18 months | 3 different teams | 6-month experiences

Our award-winning Australian graduate program has been running for many years with huge success, and we are excited to now expand this program across our New Zealand business. Graduates in NZ will be hired as permanent employees, with the first 18-months spent on the graduate program. You’ll experience three different teams across our NZ business, known as ‘rotations’. In addition to three rotations, you’ll progress through a structured learning and development plan, have access to senior leaders, and spend time with your graduate cohort forming meaningful and long-lasting connections.

Our graduate program has been designed to accelerate your early career by providing the platform and opportunity to become a well-rounded insurance professional.  The goal is for you to progress into an Assistant Underwriter position post the graduate program, once you’ve spent time working in our key insurance functions developing the technical knowledge and soft skills to thrive.

INSURANCE UNDERWRITING

Insurance underwriting is a highly technical skill set that is critical to our business.  Our graduate program focuses on insurance for businesses, which can be incredibly complex.  Businesses of all sizes across many industries present their own unique risks and you will learn what to consider before we agree to offer insurance protection to a business customer right through to the point of claim and customer aftercare.

Insurance is unique in that it offers the best of both worlds – a role where you can build strong technical skills and advanced communications skills as your success in this role will rely on effectively working with many different stakeholders.

GRADUATE LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Your skill and career development are a key focus for the entire graduate program and beyond.  Some of the ways you will learn include:

  • Experiencing our business from three different perspectives across your graduate rotations.
  • Formal classroom style training, always with a practical application.
  • Informal learning through cohort activities and initiatives.
  •  Digital learning pathways designed for the graduate cohort and your program stream more specifically.
  •  Unlimited access to digital learning content, many courses with official certifications.
  •  Your support network: graduate program lead, graduate buddy, rotation leaders, technical buddies, graduate networks (program stream and wider cohort).
  • Networking and public speaking opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for our 2024 graduate program, you must have:

  1. Completed tertiary education in the last 2 years, graduating from end of 2021 to end of 2023
