INSURANCE UNDERWRITING

Insurance underwriting is a highly technical skill set that is critical to our business.  This graduate program stream focuses on business insurance, which can be incredibly complex.  Businesses of all sizes across many industries present their own unique risks and you will learn what to consider before we agree to offer insurance protection to a business customer.

Underwriting is unique in that it offers the best of both worlds – a role where you can build strong technical skills through analysis and underwriting practices, and advanced communication and negotiation skills as your success in this role will rely on effectively working with many different stakeholders.

As an insurance underwriting graduate, you’ll work in three different underwriting teams, experiencing different lines of insurance and different types of customers across many industries.

GRADUATE LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Your skill and career development are a key focus for the entire graduate program and beyond.  Some of the ways you will learn include:

  • Experiencing our business from three different perspectives across your graduate rotations.
  • Formal classroom style training, always with a practical application.
  • Informal learning through cohort activities and initiatives.
  • Digital learning pathways designed for the graduate cohort and your program stream more specifically.
  • Unlimited access to digital learning content, many courses with official certifications.
  • Your support network: graduate program lead, graduate buddy, rotation leaders, technical buddies, graduate networks (program stream and wider cohort).
  • Networking and public speaking opportunities.

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for our 2024 graduate program, you must have:

  • Completed tertiary education in the last 2 years, graduating from end of 2021 to end of 2023.
  • Unrestricted working rights in Australia.
  • Submit a resume and academic transcript with your application.
  • Be available to start on Monday 12th January 2024.

The insurance underwriting stream does not require a specific field of study however it's more suited to graduates who value a balance of technical work and direct customer and broker interaction.
