You will join Telstra part-time to support the cutting-edge work we’re doing in areas such as Internet of Things (IoT), Software Defined Networks, 5G, cybersecurity, drone technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies, throughout the rest of your studies. 

Edge is designed to enhance and enrich your university studies with immersive, on-the-job, real experiences that embrace ways of working like Agile, DevOps, Human Centred Design and Lean. You will be allocated into Chapters/Operative groups and get hands-on experience with projects designed to develop your capabilities, collaborating with the best people in their field.

What you will bring 

We’re looking for candidates who have a strong interest in Engineering and currently studying an undergraduate degree like:  

  • Engineering or Computing (Network Engineering major) 
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering 
  • Telecommunications or IT & Communications 
  • Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering 
  • Computer Science or Systems (Software/Telcom major) 
  • Software Engineering 
  • Business / IT (Telcom/Electrical major) 
  • Commerce/Engineering 
  • Science/Engineering 
  • Technology (Telecom/Electrical Major) 

You will have good communication skills and a willingness to learn with experience or interest in any of the following: 

  • Network / Domain Engineering 
  • Telecommunications 
  • Coding / Programming 
  • Software Development

  • Cloud Computing 
  • Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning / Video and Data Analytics 
  • Networking / Network Infrastructure

Are you eligible to apply?  

To be eligible for the Career Start – Edge program, you will need to be commencing either your third or fourth year of undergraduate study in 2024 and available to work a minimum of 2 days per week for the duration of your remaining studies (we have flexible working arrangements so we are happy to work with you on what this looks like for you).  

As we're starting with a small pilot program, for the 2024 program we will be accepting applicants from the following Universities: 

· Monash University 

· RMIT 

· University of Melbourne 

· University of New South Wales 

· University of Technology Sydney 

International Students who have a valid visa that enables them to work in Australia are also eligible to apply.

What’s next

· Our team will confirm you are eligible for the program.   

· Eligible candidates will be sent a link to complete a HireVue recorded video interview and assessment task.   

· Our team will assess all video applications. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a final day interview.   

· If you are successful, we’ll complete final background checks and you’ll be sent your offer.
