2025 Transurban Graduate Program - Engineering

AI Job Summary

Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads.

What does Transurban’s Journey into the Future mean for you?

Journey into the Future is an 18-month rotational graduate program, starting in late January 2025. The program is designed to give YOU the depth of knowledge and experience you need to kick start your career.

As an Engineering Graduate, your contributions will matter. From day one, you’ll be encouraged to share your ideas and apply your expertise to create better ways of working, building, and doing.

You’ll explore three different business areas for six months at a time, where your advice will count, your responsibilities will be real and your decisions will have impact. Areas may include Project Delivery, Maintenance, Planning or Strategic Operations.

And you won't just be stuck in an office all day, either. You’ll be out among it, seeing some of our cities’ biggest projects up close. Experience what it's like to be inside a tunnel, beneath a bridge, in our Habitat Filter, or go straight to where all the action happens – inside our Traffic Control Room.

Your buddies and mentors will be there to guide and support you, while our senior leaders, technical specialists and formal learning paths will help you hone your leadership skills.

Our Engineering Graduates can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.

At Transurban, the journey starts with YOU.

You will have a curious mind, and value:

  • Integrity: Have the courage to speak up and do what is right, be who you say you are and communicate openly and honestly.
  • Collaboration: Seek and value the contribution of others, work together to get the best outcome, maintain positive relationships, encourage others to succeed and identify and use experts.
  • Accountability: Do as you say you’ll do, act on what is agreed and take responsibility for your actions.
  • Ingenuity: Be forward thinking, challenge yourself to find better ways of working and strive for excellence.
  • Respect: Appreciate different views and approaches, listen, and suspend judgement, respond to the needs of others and value everyone’s safety as well as your own.

Eligibility to apply:

  • You’re on track to graduate this year, or have already graduated last year, with an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or something similar. Any double degrees with business or commerce are advantageous, though not essential.
  • You’re an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident, NZ Citizen or you must hold unrestricted working rights in Australia from January 2025 for the entirety of the 18-month program.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year.
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well.
  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests.
  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more.
  • Share offers and insurance benefits.
  • Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days.

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability. If you require any adjustments or support during the recruitment process, please contact us.
