AI Job Summary

Are you interested in a Career in Technology? We have an exciting opportunity to join our mob. We will train and help you build your career in Australia's oldest bank. All you need is an interest in technology and the right attitude!

At Westpac we’re passionate about backing people. As Australia’s first bank, we are committed to creating better futures for our people, customers, and communities. We want to be game changers in tech, shaping the future of banking for our customers. A career in technology can help the community you live in, influence people’s lives, and allow you to earn a great salary. We are committed to supporting our first nations people and proud to launch our first ‘Tech Cadet’ program which we have designed for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders with a keen interest in a technology career.

How does the program work?

You will be employed full time and we will prepare you for an entry level role in one of our technology teams. Your initial training will vary between 12-18 weeks (depending which area of technology you will work) and our training will cover one of the following areas: Cyber Security, Web Development, Data Analytics and Cloud Computing.

When you complete your training, you will get to collaborate and work with great leaders and make a real difference to the way in which we support our people and customers.

What support will I get?

We will help you learn the Westpac way of doing things. During your training program, you will be supported by instructors and a dedicated First Nation Mentor. You will also get to participate in our group orientation program as well as get to learn how we use technology to complete our jobs. We will also introduce you to our wider First Nations support network which includes our ‘Brothers and Sisters’ employee advocacy group, Aunty Leanne (our Elder-in-Residence) and learn more about our strategy to help first nations communities.

You will also have regular program check ins with other ‘Tech Cadet’s’ and meet with our technology leaders to help build your knowledge and networks.

What do I need?

You don’t need to come from a technology background, but we do need you to have a keen interest and desire to start a career in tech.

You will need to have entry level computer skills such as the ability to use Word and PowerPoint, upload files, send emails and use video conferencing platforms. You will also need to have achieved satisfactory results in language, literacy and numerical skills and will also need to complete a virtual interview.
