Engineering Graduate Jobs and Programs in Perth
Major City: Perth
High demand for: mining, resources, civil, structural
Best Engineering Schools: Curtin College, Edith Cowell University
Western Australia is unquestionably the resource and mining capital of Australia, and currently leads the demand for engineers. The mining boom has caused many multinational corporations to centre in Perth and surrounding regions, and a demand is high for well-trained, industry-ready graduates. WA does not have many engineering schools, so many of the engineers working there have come interstate. Above-average population growth, driven by the mining boom, is also leading a demand for other engineering disciplines such as civil, structural and electrical engineers.
Graduate salaries are highest in WA than in any other state, and are still increasing at a higher rate. However, there are industry predictions that the demand will begin to moderate in the near future as the pool of candidates expands.
